GIVING OLD THINGS NEW LIFE SINCE 2016.
Hey, I'm Kobie! The person behind Recycled by Kobie.
What started as a creative hobby back in 2016 has grown into a business that's taken me all around Australia, turning everyday objects into something completely different.
And it all started with a few old horseshoes.
HOW IT ALL STARTED
Back in 2016, I was learning how to weld and needed something to practise on.
My grandad had a bunch of old horseshoes lying around, and being a free material I could get my hands on, they were perfect for experimenting with.
What started as simply practising my welding eventually turned into making sculptures out of the horseshoes. I began experimenting with different shapes and designs, seeing what I could create from something that would otherwise just be sitting around.
I loved the idea of taking something old and giving it a completely new purpose.
That idea stuck with me, and eventually I started experimenting with other recycled materials, which led me to making jewellery from old spoons and coins.
What started with a few horseshoes in my grandad's shed slowly turned into Recycled by Kobie.
FROM HORSESHOES TO HANDMADE RINGS
Over the past five years, I've travelled across Australia, setting up at markets, music festivals and events, making thousands of rings along the way.
I've spent countless hours searching for interesting vintage spoons and coins, discovering unique patterns and designs, and transforming them into jewellery that people can wear every day.
One of my favourite parts of what I do is watching someone find a spoon they love and then seeing their reaction when I turn it into a ring right in front of them.
Every spoon has its own design, every coin has its own history, and every ring ends up with a story of its own.
THE PICK A SPOON BOARD
The Pick a Spoon Board actually came about when I first wanted to start selling my rings at markets.
I'd collected a bunch of really cool vintage spoons that I wanted to turn into rings, but there was one problem — I didn't want to make them all into random sizes and hope someone with the right-sized finger came along.
So instead of making all the rings beforehand, I came up with the idea of displaying the spoons and letting people choose their favourite.
They could pick the exact spoon they wanted, tell me their ring size, and I'd make it for them right there on the spot.
And that's how the Pick a Spoon Board was born.
What started as a simple solution to a sizing problem has become one of the biggest parts of Recycled by Kobie.
Over the years, I've taken the board to markets and music festivals all around Australia, making thousands of custom spoon rings for people.
Now, it's also something I can bring to weddings, Christmas parties, corporate functions and private events.
It's more than just buying a ring — you get to choose the design and watch it being made just for you.
HIRE THE PICK A SPOON BOARDTHE COIN RING WORKSHOP
After years of making rings for people, I wanted to give them the opportunity to experience making one themselves.
That's how the Coin Ring Workshop came about.
Based in Richmond, Melbourne, the workshop gives people the chance to take a real coin and transform it into their very own ring.
It's a hands-on experience where you get to use the tools, learn the process and walk away with something you've made yourself.
Whether it's a date, a birthday, a gift or just something different to try, the idea is to make jewellery-making accessible, fun and memorable.

WHAT RECYCLED BY KOBIE IS ALL ABOUT
I've always believed that something doesn't have to be new to be valuable.
Sometimes the most interesting things are the ones that have already lived another life.
That's what Recycled by Kobie is built around — creativity, repurposing old materials and making something a little different from the ordinary.
From a vintage spoon found at a market to an old coin with decades of history, I love turning these objects into something people can wear, keep and pass on.
THANKS FOR BEING PART OF IT.
Whether you've bought a ring at a festival, visited the Pick a Spoon Board, joined a Coin Ring Workshop or just stumbled across my website, I appreciate you being here.
It's been a pretty incredible journey from practising welding with my grandad's old horseshoes back in 2016, and I'm excited to see where it goes next.
